Why we are here in New Orleans

Why are we traveling to New Orleans to help?
We, as the body of Christ, are called to serve. Period. This year Mark and Cathy are serving in the USA rather than Central Europe where we have traveled for our past 5 mission trips. This is a great opportunity to spread the gospel and give physical comfort to those whose lives are devastated by Hurricane Katrina. We can't imagine "not" serving so close to home with a need as huge as this.

I don't believe God is punishing the people of New Orleans through Hurricane Katrina; I personally believe this is a tremendous opportinity and a wake up call to see God's Love, tender mercy, patience, forgiveness and provision; and to offer them the chance of a lifetime to accept His grace, and gain salvation through His only Son, Jesus Christ.

So why go? Christ commands us to serve others, just as he served.
As the Apostle Paul said "You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love." Galatians 5:13 ( bible.com)
