Day 9

If you are reading this blog and want to encourage us, please click the "comments" link on the bottom of this post. We really need to hear from you!!
.
The last few days have been a blur! Work has been completed, and God is ministering to the people.
Friday we worked a second day on the roof of Fred & Willi's home, getting some shingles on the roof, and getting the remainder of it prepared for completion. The amount of work done with the help of the Amish boys was 'miraculous'!
After spending a lot of time with Fred and his wife, we learned much about them. What cool stories people in their 70's can tell.! Building relationships with people is the REAL ministry that we are here for. A house can't gain salvation, but the owners can! After two long days of work at their house, and many hours of conversations, the couple agreed to come to our church for worship. Today they came to church for the first time in 2 1/2 years!! And they say they will be back next week - Praise Jesus!

Saturday was a rain-delay with large amounts of liquid sunshine falling. Pastor Joe and the Conover team worked for a few hours on a roof in the pouring rain before heading home to Wisconsin. They did a large amount of work and they built many great relationships: They were a huge blessing and encouragement to the homeowners and the church staff & volunteers. We will miss them.

Yesterday (Saturday) Smokey & Kathy Hoffer arrived to join Thelma & Louise (Nanc & Liz) and me & Cathy for what we know will be a fantastic week of work! They brought ALOT of great supplies from Minocqua. Thank you to everyone who has donated supplies, prayers, encouragement and financial assistance. Special thanks to Ace Hardware, River Valley State Bank and Culvers for substancial donations which have helped in amazing ways. "Thanks!"
.
High points for the week have been too numerous to mention! Meeting the homeowners and seeing how greatful they are for the assistance we are bringing to them is the most special feeling! It is also an important opportunity to pray with the homeowner, share with them, and listen to them. It is traumatic for the owner to see everything they own go out to the curb. The homeowners 'lost' everything 6 months ago when the storm came through and the levees broke, and now they are losing those same items again as we move it all into a garbage pile at the curb. Love, compassion and empathy are important tools when gutting a house. The most satisfaction of any job is the tears of joy and gratitude from the people who we are serving. Sometimes it is a neighbor who comes by and is overwhelmed by the love they see pouring out of the workers.

We are looking forward to the teams who are preparing to come down. If you are NOT coming down to serve, but still want to help, please continue to pray as to how God would lead you. Tools are needed, free store supplies are needed, finances are needed to purchase specific ministry needs as they arise.
Please contact me to get up to date specifics.

Isaiah 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

Jesus is enough,
-mj

Hey Rhino bro!

What can I say??!!

I was in Conover yesterday (Dave Block was there preaching) and we prayed and thanked God for you and the team(s)!

Now, I have a little "assignment" for you!

Sit down with Cathy (and anyone else who you can grab!) and read (OUTLOUD!) ...

1 Peter 2:4-9 ... 1 Corinthians 2:9 ... Ephesians 2:13-22 and Ephesians 3:20-21 (in that order!).

Then, write those verses on 3 x 5 cards and memorize them and use them to minister to others like Fred and Willi who may be "far off!" I'm sure the results will be amazing!

We're building with Living Stones, man!!

Love ya huge!

Yellow Bear!
